Apartment / Flat / Unit
A self-contained housing unit that occupies only part of a building. It denotes public housing as well as luxury condominiums. An office unit in a commercial building is also classified under this category.
A flat or apartment that occupies two floors of a building that are typically connected by internal stairs. The usual layout consists of: living space, dining area and kitchen on the lower floor, and; bedrooms on the upper floor.
An apartment that occupies the highest floor of a building. Penthouses are typically differentiated from other apartments by their unique features, such as a private elevator, high ceiling, luxurious flooring and a rooftop terrace.
Detached / Bungalow / Villa
A single-family free-standing dwelling, typically with a private yard or a garden. Some may include a basement, a garage or a swimming pool.
A pair of houses sharing a party wall and usually built in such a way that each house's layout is a mirror image of its twin.
Terraced / Townhouse
A medium-density housing where a row of similar-looking houses adjoin each other by sharing side walls. Each of these houses is usually built on a small foot-print.
A single-family free-standing dwelling within a shared compound. Several of these form a cluster together. Cluster houses found in large complexes often have gated security, swimming pools, gyms, parks and playground.
